HIDE A FILE OR FOLDER IN LINUX

                  In this post i will show you how to hide a file or a folder in linux operating system. It is easy to hide any file or folder in windows by just heading to the folder option or organize option (windows 7 only). But it is difficult for a beginner to hide any folder in the linux operating system. So here i will explain you how to hide any file or folder in linux. 

                           First take the file or folder that you want to hide ,and rename this file and add a dot sign (".") at the starting of the file name, whatever the name of the file but it should start with a dot.

                          For example ,If the name of the folder is "HELLO" change the name to ".HELLO".

                      

                          The next step is go to menubar and select  view  check whether the option SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS  is selected. if it selected, then remove the tick mark to unselect it. If it not selected ,keep the settings . Now you can see that your folder or file has hidden.
